On November 6, 2017, the Sarnia Police Service Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Investigation Unit entered into an online investigation regarding the sharing of suspected child pornography files. As the investigation continued through the month of November a detective from the ICE Unit was able to determine that an individual had been exchanging child pornography files on line in the City of Sarnia.
A warranted was executed on December 14, 2017, at an address in the 200 block of north Russell Street in the City of Sarnia. A 25 year old male was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of distribution of child pornography. The accused has his first court date set for January 9, 2017.
From the information gathered through the investigation there appears to be no local victims involved in this matter.
The Sarnia Police ICE Unit is a partner of the Ontario’s Provincial Strategy to protect children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the internet. This project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.
