A 24 year old male from Sarnia has been arrested and charged with Impaired Driving, Over 80 and Failing to Stop at Scene of Collision.
On March 23rd, 2017 at approximately 2:13pm, an off-duty detective with the Sarnia Police Service witnessed a hit and run collision at the intersection of Capel Street and Maxwell Street. This officer along with the other driver obtained detailed information about the suspect and the vehicle he was driving which was then relayed to responding officers.
Shortly after, the accused was located at his residence along with the vehicle he was operating. After showing signs of intoxication, he was arrested for Impaired Driving and for Failing to Stop at the Scene of a Collision. After being transported to the Sarnia Police Service, the accused provided two breath samples each registering 230mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood.
As a result, Jarrod Nathan Burns was charged with Impaired Driving, Failing to Stop at Scene of Collision and Having Over 80mg of Alcohol in 100ml of Blood. He has been released on a Promise to Appear.
