As part of the Sarnia Police Service’s ongoing efforts to work with the local community surrounding the vacated hospital site more arrests have been made regarding a break and enter to the abandoned building.

On March 22, 2017, members of the Sarnia Police Service COPPS Unit were alerted to individuals possibly being in the building. At approximately 2:00 pm the officers observed two individuals leaving the building on foot. Officers attempted to stop the individuals but they ran from the police.

Secondary to a brief foot chase officers were able to arrest both parties involved in the break and enter. Officers also located a gym bag with work gloves, hack saws and bolt cutters.

One of the suspects was a 19 year old male who had an outstanding warrant for break and enter and property related crimes. The 19 year old along with the second male, 17 years of age, face charges for break and enter and for possession of break and enter tools.

The 19 year was held for a bail hearing for today’s date. The 17 year old was released on a promise to appear for a later date.
