On March 4, 2017, at approximately 1:40 am, members of the Sarnia Police Service responded to a collision involving a pickup truck striking a wall on the north east side of Davis Street after having made a sharp left hand turn from Christina Street onto Davis Street at a high rate of speed..
The driver of the vehicle was located by witnesses bleeding from the forehead due to him striking the windshield. Paramedics also attended to assist regarding the injuries.
The driver was arrested by police while still on scene for impaired operation of a motor vehicle after forming reasonable grounds of his intoxication. He was then transported to hospital regarding his non-life-threatening injuries. At the hospital a breath technician from the Sarnia Police Service attended to administer the Intoxilyzer test. The accused refused to take the test when requested.
The 51 year old suspect from Sarnia was subsequently released on a Promise to Appear and is facing charges for refusing to provide a sample of breath and for his ability being impaired by alcohol when operating a motor vehicle. He was also issued a Provincial Offence Notice (ticket) for failing to wear his seatbelt.
