Mary Muscat, age 44, is now facing drug charges. She was in court this morning and remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing. Her new charges are Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Morphine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking.
On Wednesday, April 24, 2013, officers executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant on the home in the 800 block of Maxwell Street after three people were arrested there on April 23. This search warrant was applied for after the initial arrest of the three. Police had remained at the home for crime scene security and investigative purposes. The Sarnia Police Forensic Identification Branch was also processing the crime scene during that time.
On April 25, members of the Sarnia Police Vice Branch returned to the home to collect further evidence. In total, 65 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 179 morphine pills, 3.6 grams of cocaine and 7 fentanyl patches were seized, with a total street value of over $23,600. Cash totaling over $6,600 was also seized from the residence along with a number of drug paraphernalia items.
A new charge of Forcible Confinement was also laid in relation to the Attempted Murder charge already before the courts.
