On December 18, 2016, at approximately 11:45 pm, Sarnia Police responded to a complainant by a concerned neighbour regarding foot prints in the snow in their neighbour’s backyard, leading to the back door. Upon arrival to the residence, on Margaret Street, the officer noted that it appeared that someone pried at the back door. Fortunately, entry was not gained and the residence was secure. No suspect was located, nor was there any description given. It was believed that the homeowner was out of town at the time.
On December 19, 2016, at approximately 3:00 am, the police received a second call that a suspect was trying to break into the same residence again through a window on the north side of the home. Upon arrival the officer observed a suspect fleeing from the residence and after a brief foot chase the suspect was apprehended.
The accused is a 37 year old man from Sarnia who now faces charges for break and enter, possession of break and enter instruments, mischief over $5000.00, trespass by night, and breach of probation.
The accused is currently in custody and is awaiting his bail hearing.
