Thieves Steal Purse

On December 7, 2016, at approximately 2:30 pm, a 69 year old female was leaving a local store in Northgate Plaza with her purse that was in the shopping cart she was pushing. As she headed out to her vehicle two males on bicycles grabbed her purse from the cart and sped away northbound out of the parking lot towards Colborne Road. The only description given was that one of the males was wearing a multi-coloured hat and dark clothing.

A member of the COPPS Unit, while searching for the suspects, observed a male on a BMX bicycle in the area of Rosedale Avenue and Ellewood Avenue.

As the officer dealt with the 20 year old man and investigated the matter further he was able to determine that the man was involved with the theft and arrested the suspect. The second suspect has still not been identified.

The 20 year old accused was charged with 2 counts of breach of probation, theft under $5000 and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (six inch fillet knife was found on his person).

The accused was held for a bail hearing.
