On November 12, 2016, shortly after midnight, the Sarnia Police Service responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a hydro pole. The vehicle sustained extensive damage to the vehicle and snapping the pole.
As the officer spoke with the driver and continued his investigation it was determined the 18 year old male driver was impaired by alcohol. At this time, the driver was arrested for the impaired charge and subsequently transported to the Sarnia Police Station.
Upon arrival at the station a qualified breath technician conducted the Intoxilyzer test and it was determined that the driver had twice the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.
The accused now faces charges for care and control of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol and for over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood. The accused was also charged with driving with no driver’s license. He is to attend court on December 20, 2016 for his first appearance.
