On June 5, 2016, at about 1:40 pm the Sarnia Police Service responded to concerns that the driver of pickup truck was leaving the area of Artwalk and was possibly impaired. Officers were able to locate the truck in the area of Cromwell Street and Victoria Street in the City of Sarnia. A 58 year old male driver from Sarnia was arrested on the grounds of over 80 mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood. The driver was then transported to the station where he supplied samples of breath into an Intoxilyzer Instrument which indicated that the accused was approximately 3 times over the legal limit.

He was held till sober and subsequently released on a Promise to appear by an Officer Incharge.

Later that day, at approximately 10:55 pm, officers responded to a disturbance on East Street. Upon arriving on scene officers observed a motor vehicle that was described as the vehicle involved in the disturbance attempting to park. The driver of the vehicle was a 53 year old female from Sarnia. The female was belligerent to the officers and refused to give any information to assist the officers into the investigation. As the officers continued their investigation grounds were formed and the female was arrested for impaired operation of motor vehicle.

The accused female was transported to the station where she refused to supply a sample of breath into an intoxilyzer. She was subsequently charged for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and for refusing to provide a sample. She was held for a bail hearing.

Due to the assistance of the public 2 more impaired drivers were stopped before they could harm anyone. Yet, some individuals just don’t understand the true consequences of driving drunk and have to learn the hard way. We ask the members of our community to keep doing what they are doing and contact police if they believe someone is driving impaired. You are potentially saving a life!
