On April 1, 2016 a witness in the area of George Street and Vidal Street in the City of Sarnia observed a man vandalizing a bus stop with graffiti, also known as “tagging”. The witness immediately contacted the police and a member of the Sarnia Police Service COPPS Unit, who was in the area, was able to locate the suspect in the vicinity.
Shortly before 2:00pm, a 32 year old man from Sarnia was arrested for Mischief Under $5000. He was also charged with Possession of a Drug for the Purpose of Trafficking. This was due to the fact that after the suspect was arrested, a quantity of packaged Marihuana was found on his person.
The Sarnia Police is reminding the public that if they do witness any such acts of vandalism they are to contact the Sarnia Police Service immediately at 519-344-8861 (ext 0) or contact Sarnia Lambton Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Working together in this fashion will help to decrease the damage done. We are also reminding the public that there will be a zero tolerance to this act of Mischief and offenders will be charged accordingly.
