On February 22, 2016, shortly before 1:00 am, a City of Sarnia resident was in the 200 block area of Front St when they observed a vehicle attempt to park. The witness saw the vehicle mount the curb and strike a parked car. Immediately the Sarnia Police Service was contacted to investigate the collision. The suspect driver had entered a local bar in the area and the witness was able to continue observing the suspect.
After a brief investigation, the suspect was identified and arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. He was subsequently transported to the Sarnia Police Station where he supplied 2 suitable samples of breath into an Intoxilyzer instrument. The accused’s samples indicated he was three times over the legal limit.
The accused Daniel Huggett, 33 years of age, was charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and More than 80 mgs of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood. He was released when sober on a Promise to Appear with his first appearance in court to be on March 8, 2016.
