On September 26, 2021, prior to 1:00 PM, a white pick-up truck was stolen from the parking lot of a variety store located at Indian Road and Wellington Street.

At approximately 1:00 PM, the Sarnia Police Service dispatch received a call regarding a hit and run the had just occurred at Exmouth Street and Christina Street involving the stolen white pick-up truck. The vehicle continued northbound on Christina as officers were notified of the incident.

The officers were able to locate the vehicle in the area of southbound Murphy Road at Exmouth Street where the truck was boxed in by a cruiser and another vehicle that was stopped ahead of it while it was being held up by a red light. As an officer got out, on foot, to approach he the driver, who was still in the stolen vehicle, the suspect proceeded to drive away by driving into the vehicle a head of it and make its way out. The truck then proceeded through the red right. The vehicle continued to be driven in a dangerous manner by swerving in and out of traffic and mounting curbs.

As the stolen vehicle continued eastbound on Exmouth Street it approached a pedestrian crossover at Exmouth Street and the Howard Watson Trail which was activated to stop motor vehicle traffic. The stolen vehicle then rear-ended another vehicle that was stopped at the crossover lights. The driver of the stolen truck jumped out and began to run from police onto the Howard Watson Trial. As soon as officers arrived on scene they immediately gave chase to the suspect onto the trail.

Fortunately, the suspect was tripped up by a cyclist on the trail which allowed officers the opportunity to catch up. A struggle then ensued as the accused refused to co-operate with the police as they attempted to arrest him. The accused was finally taken into custody.

Broadcast time:
1:35 AM

Date: September 27, 2021

On September 25, 2021, at approximately 1:00 AM, officers were dispatched to White Circle in response to a disturbance that was occurring in the area. Information received was that a firearm was believed to have been discharged and that a knife and axe maybe in the possession of someone.

A number of officers attended the area to investigate the matter. An individual was observed leaving a residence in the area where the weapons complaint came from. As the officers attempted to speak to the individual to confirm what had happened it was observed that the individual was wearing a hoodie and it appeared that the front pocket was weighted down with something. Officers wished to ensure that the male was not carrying a weapon as they continued to deal with him. At this point the male began to act in a concerning manner by putting his hands into the front pocket of his hoodie and attempting to gain control of an unknown item.

After being directed numerous times to keep his hands out of his pockets out of concern for a possible weapon, officers took control of the male by bring him to the ground and detaining him for investigative purposes. During the incident the suspect dropped a Ziploc bag containing suspected cocaine.

At this point the suspect was advised he was under arrest for the controlled substance and had been handcuffed. As the accused was being brought to his feet he broke away from the officers causing a brief foot chase to ensue. Officers were able to regain control of the suspect in short order and took him into custody.

A search of the suspect located approximately one thousand dollars in Canadian currency and six rounds of .22 calibre ammunition. No firearm was ever located.

It was later determined that the suspect was in possession of 216 grams of alleged cocaine with an approximate street value of $21, 600.

Broadcast time:
10:10 AM

Date: September 28, 2021

On September 26, 2021, at approximately 1:00 PM, Trevor James Clark, 29 years of age, was involved in the theft of a pickup truck which in turn was driven through the City of Sarnia in a dangerous manner causing 5 collisions. Officers were able to finally locate the suspect after a collision on Exmouth Street at the Howard Watson Trail and with the assistance of a member of the public Clark was taken into custody.

Clark was charged with numerous charges which included theft of a motor vehicle and dangerous driving and was held by police for Bail Court (via video link at the Sarnia Police Headquarters).

On September 27, 2021, at approximately 1:13 PM, Trevor Clark was released by Bail Court and at 1:21 PM the Sarnia Police received a call advising that an individual was putting air in his boat trailer tires at a gas bar located in the area of Exmouth Street and Christina Street. The complaint went on to advise that as they were doing that someone jumped into their vehicle and drove away with the vehicle and the boat in tow.

As the suspect drove away the complainant received the assistance of a bystander who helped the complainant by following the suspect in order to update the police.

The accused made his way southbound on Christina Street, and then began to take side streets. Due to the condition of the boat trailer tire and the rate at which it was being driven the tire exploded rendering it useless.

The stolen vehicle came to a stop in the area of London Road and Norman Street where an officer located it. The suspect then ran from the vehicle and the officer noticed that the stolen vehicle was left in gear and was rolling away. Thus, the officer was able to put the vehicle into park prior to giving chase to the accused.

Fortunately, another officer in the area was able to keep an eye on the suspect and direct the other officer to where Clark was going. He was finally taken into custody without incident.

Trevor James Clark now faces the following charges:

1) Theft of a motor vehicle

2) Dangerous operation

3) Failing to comply with a release order

4) Theft over $5000

Clark was again held by police and will re-attend bail court today.
