The 2nd annual Cause for Paws, a pet food drive for The Inn of The Good Shepherd, has brought community forces together in our community.
The Sarnia Police Service and Sarnia Fire Rescue Services have partnered to collect donations of unopened dog and cat food. During the month of March, pet food donors can visit the Sarnia Police Station at 555 Christina St. N. and Sarnia Fire Hall 240 East St. N. to contribute to the Cause for Paws.
The Inn of The Good Shepherd provides pet food (when available) to those pet owners living in poverty. “Pets have an amazing role in humans’ emotional and physical health- people who live in poverty struggle with isolation and loneliness that often their pet is the only bright spot in their life. And the ability to have access to this unconditional love should not be based on income”, says Alan Stevenson CEO Canadian Mental Health Association Sarnia Lambton Kent.
The Inn of The Good Shepherd provides service with dignity to those in need of food and shelter and other essential services. The Inn provides food to over 1800 individuals monthly who use the food bank. Over 3000 meals are served monthly by soup kitchen volunteer teams.
The attached poster shows Deputy Fire Chief Bryan VanGaver with Lucky and Clover the Dalmatians and Sarnia Police Chief Norm Hansen with his dog Hank.

Over the course of the last month members of the Sarnia Police Service Vice Unit have been investigating a male and female who have been trafficking large quantities of cocaine within the City of Sarnia.
On March 3, 2020, at approximately 6:00 PM, Vice officers observed the suspected male conduct a drug deal in the parking lot of a local hotel in the 400 block of Christina Street. Officers proceeded to arrest the suspect for trafficking and a second person for possession of a controlled substance.
The accused was transported back to the Sarnia Police Station where a secondary search located 16.69 grams of cocaine (street value of approximately $1,769) on his person.
Vice officers requested a warrant to search the hotel room where the suspect was staying with a female. The warrant was executed in the early morning hours of March 4, 2020. Officers located drug paraphernalia indicative of trafficking drugs (scales and packaging material). While officers were searching the room the female suspect entered the room and was immediately arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking.
In this matter Jeremy Joseph Spinks, 32 years of age, of Sarnia, was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and two counts failure to comply with a release order.
The second suspect, Alysha Dewey, 27 years of age, of Point Edward, was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine.
Both Dewey and Spinks will have their first court appearance on March 25, 2020, at 9:30 AM at the Sarnia Lambton Court House located at 700 North Christina Street.

Here is an example of another scam that exists.
Someone, locally, received an email indicating that they were travelling over twice the legal speed and were caught on a stationary traffic camera.
As you can see below a great deal of information is lacking, such as a license plate number, location, actual speed, etc.
These sorts of violations would not be issued in this manner. Nor is there a 10% a day penalty added “daily”.
When receiving something of this nature take the time to look into it. Fortunately, the person who received this scam did look into it and did not lose any money.
Do not make contact via the links located within the email but rather look up the agency that supposedly sent you the information via internet or phone book.
