Broadcast time: 3:35pm

Date: January 31, 2020

A 56 year old woman from Sarnia was arrested yesterday afternoon for Impaired Driving.

On January 30th, 2020, shortly after 3pm, a Sarnia Police Service Officer came upon a collision in the area of Christina Street just north of Confederation Street. Witnesses on scene quickly approached the officer describing a female driver, who caused the collision, had fled northbound from this area towards Devine Street. A security officer who was also in the area assisted police by following this female and pointing her out as she was now walking southbound on Vidal Street.

This female driver was easily located by police and she also matched the description provided by witnesses. As the officer spoke with her, he noticed many physical signs of impairment including an odour of alcohol when she spoke. As a result, she was placed under arrest for Impaired Driving and transported to the Sarnia Police Service for breath tests where she registered readings that were over 4.5 times the legal limit.

As a result, the accused Kimberly Ann Janet Baxter was charged with Operate Conveyance While Impaired and Operate Conveyance with 80mg or More of Alcohol in 100ml of Blood. She has since been released on an Undertaking.

There were no injuries reported from the collision which remains under investigation and further charges may be pending.

Please Be Careful When Accepting American Cash

Broadcast time: 2:00 PM

Date: February 5, 2020

Recently the Sarnia Police Service was handed over money that was circulated as currency and deposited at a local bank. The bank detected the funds as being counterfeit and contacted the business that deposited the money. That business is now out the funds.

Unfortunately, this could have been avoided if more time was taken to look over the bills before they were accepted. Just by reading the top of the $20 bill it is clear that these are fakes.

Take your time when receiving cash, especially American bills, they are harder to detect at times due to the fact they are made out of paper.

Below you can see black and white copies of a bill that was seized.

Broadcast time: 2:10 PM

Date: February 7, 2020

On February 7, 2020, at approximately 3:45 AM, an officer on patrol observed a male party hunched over at a pay phone in the area of Christina Street and London Road.

Out of concern for the individual the officer attended to the person to ensure that he was alright. Once the officer approached the male the officer recognized who it was and realized that there was an outstanding warrant for the male regarding breaches he was alleged to have committed.

Officers attempted to calm the man down as he was becoming agitated when he was advised that he was under arrest. The suspect then began walking away from the officers and kept his right hand in his coat pocket. Officers repeatedly instructed the suspect to take his hand out of his pocket.

When officers approached the suspect to take control the male brandished a silver steak knife and began waving it at the officers threatening to kill them.

At this time the officers drew their side arms and repeatedly ordered the man to drop the knife. The suspect finally complied and threw the knife to the ground at which time he was arrested without further incident.

Harvey Dale George, 40 years of age, faces the following charges:

  1. Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  2. Carrying a concealed weapon
  3. Two counts of failing to comply with a release order
  4. Two counts of assault a peace officer with a weapon
  5. Two counts of failing to comply with a probation order
