It Didn’t Take Long – Salisbury and Ryan are in Custody

The Sarnia Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance.

Yesterday, at approximately 3:34 PM, members of the Sarnia police Service COPPs unit were able to arrest Dusty-Wade Ryan, 32 years of age, and Nicole Salisbury, 31 years of age, without incident at a residence in central Sarnia.

The two have been taken into custody and are being held for a bail hearing. The two face a number of fraud charges.

Vice Continues Their Battle Against Drugs

The Sarnia Police Service Vice Unit has been conducting an investigation regarding a male suspect trafficking drugs in the City of Sarnia.

On November 6, 2019, at approximately 3:30 PM, Vice Unit officers conducted a traffic stop of the suspect in the area of Indian Road and Highway 402.

Upon searching the suspect and the vehicle officers located and seized the following:

  1. The total amount of cocaine seized was 17 grams with a street value of $1,700.00.
  2. The total amount of Percocet pills seized was 203 pills with a street value of $1,141.00
  3. The total amount of Oxycodone pills was 11 pills with a street value of $440.00.
  4. The total value of drugs seized was $3,281.00.
  5. The total amount of Canadian cash seized was $720.00.

The accused in this matter, Jeffery Martin, 47 years of age, of Sarnia, faces three counts of Possession of Controlled Substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Martin was held for a bail hearing.

Over the course of the weekend the Sarnia Police Service responded to approximately 160 calls for service. Calls included the following:

North End Break and Enters

Currently the Sarnia Police Service is investigating break and enters to two separate locations in the cities north end.

The first location is the Pathways Centre for Children located on Murphy Road. This centre was targeted twice with one incident on November 10, 2019, and the second incident occurring on November 14, 2019. Both times the individual or individuals broke in, causing damage, but did not take anything.

The second location was Cathcart Public School located on Cathcart Boulevard. This building was also targeted twice with the first incident occurring on November 10, 2019. At this time a portable was broken into and a laptop was stolen.

On November 13, 2019, the school was broken into again and several Google Chrome Book laptops were stolen.

Russell Street Collision – Police Seeking Witnesses

On Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at approximately 12:45pm, a vehicle driving southbound on Russell Street North struck the rear of a parked vehicle along west curb, just north of George Street causing extensive damage. There were no injuries in this collision.

Missing Person – Nevaeh Bressette

The Sarnia Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in locating 14 year old Nevaeh Bressette who is currently missing. Nevaeh was last seen at approximately 9pm on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 in the area of Norfolk Avenue. Anyone with information on Nevaeh’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Sarnia Police Service at 519-344-8861 ext. 0.

She is described as Indigenous, female, 5′ 5″, 160lbs, brown eyes with long brown hair. Below is a current photo of Nevaeh Bressette.

Guns and Drugs Seized

Date: November 22, 2019

As part of an ongoing investigation members of the Sarnia Police Service Vice Unit conducted surveillance of a suspect that was believed to be selling drugs within the City of Sarnia. The surveillance took place on November 21, 2019. The vehicle that he was in was observed making a number of quick stops where it is believed drug transaction had taken place.

At approximately 3:12 PM members of the vice unit conducted a vehicle stop of the suspect vehicle. While approaching the vehicle officers observed the suspect, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, pull what appeared to be a hand gun from his waist band and throw it to the ground inside the vehicle.

In total there were four occupants in the vehicle which were all arrested.

As a result of a search officers located over half a pound of crack and of cocaine. The total street value of the drugs is approximately $25,000. It was determined that the gun thrown to the ground was an actual 40 calibre semi-automatic hand gun that was loaded. Officers also located a replica hand gun on the driver that was tucked into his waist band.

The following individuals face the following charges:

  1. Isaiah Norlyn Simmons, 24 years of age, of the Greater Toronto Area, (passenger in the front seat).
  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine).
  • Ten firearm and weapon related charges.
  • One count of breach of probation.

     

  1. Justin Alexander Elpani, 24 years of age, of Sarnia, (driver of the motor vehicle).    
  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine).
  • Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose.
  • Unauthorized Possession of a weapon.

     

  1. Michelle Anne Poirier, 31 years of age, of Sarnia, (back seat of motor vehicle).
  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine).
  • Failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking.
  • Also had an outstanding warrant for her arrest.

     

  1. Adam Joseph Renaud, 45 years of age, of Sarnia, (back seat of vehicle).
  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine).
  • Fail to comply with undertaking.
  • Also had three outstanding warrants for his arrest

All four accused have been held for a bail hearing sometime today.

Pharmaceutical Drugs Seized in Bust

Date: November 25, 2019

Members of the Sarnia Police Service Vice Unit have been conducting an ongoing investigation regarding a female party trafficking in large quantities of prescription medication within the City of Sarnia.

On November 23, 2019, Vice Officers were conducting surveillance on the suspect and ended up stopping the vehicle that the female suspect and another male were in.

Both parties were arrested and a subsequent search of their person and the vehicle located the following drugs:

  1. 18 mg Hydromorphone Contin – 59 pills
  2. 12 mg Hyrdomorphone Contin – 62 pills
  3. 8 mg Dilaudid – 110 pills

The approximate street value of the drugs seized is believed to be $5520.

A Cammie Marilyn English, 48 years of age, of Sarnia, and a Cameron Sky-Lewis Johnson, 39 years of age, of Wallaceburg, have been charged with three counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking and one count of Possession of a Controlled Substace.

Both were held for a bail hearing.

Robbery of Gas Bar

Date: November 25, 2019

On November 24, 2019, shortly after midnight, the Sarnia Police Service responded to a robbery at a the Petro Canada Gas Bar located on UBE Drive in the City of Sarnia.

Upon arriving on scene the officers spoke to the cashier who was suffering from the effects of being peppered sprayed.

From information received and photos from the surveillance camera, a male suspect was wearing grey gloves, a black winter coat, with a hoodie pulled right down, and a mask. The suspect demanded cash and then pepper sprayed the victim.

The suspect then left the store in a dark coloured single cab pickup truck heading south on Airport Road.

The cashier did not sustain any long lasting effects from being peppered sprayed.

The Sarnia Police Service Criminal Investigation Unit is currently investigating the incident and is looking for the public’s assistance.

Fight Leads to a Stabbing

Date: November 25, 2019

On Sunday, November 4, 2019, in the early morning hours, the accused in this matter along with another unknown male attended the victim’s address located in the 200 block of Mitton Street South.

At this time the victim answered the door and shortly thereafter an altercation ensued amongst the three men which spilled out to the front of the residence. This incident appears to be a continuation of a confrontation the accused and the victim had earlier on.

Friends of the victim came outside to help and the suspect and the unknown male left the scene in a dark coloured Jeep Cherokee. The Cherokee was later located.

During the altercation the victim was stabbed and ended up being transported to a London hospital with serious but non-life-threaten injuries.

At this time a warrant has been requested for the arrest of Nicholas Edward Bailey, 22 years of age, of Sarnia, for assault with a weapon and aggravated assault.

Cop for Cans Results

Over the weekend members of the Sarnia Police Service took part in the 7th Annual Cop for Cans Event which involves collecting donated canned food goods for people in need at Christmas time. The food is donated to the Inn of the Good Shepherd who in turn ensures that those most in need receive the donations.

This year the Cop for Cans Event collected 11,879 pounds of food goods which is a record breaking year.

Thank you to all the volunteers who gave up their day off to come out and help with this event and thanks to local The Real Canadian Superstore and Wal Mart for allowing this event to take place at their locations. Another thank you to the Sarnia Police Association for their monetary donation towards the can food drive.

Finally, a huge thank you to the people of Sarnia who have donated over 50,000 pounds of food over the last seven years to the Cop for Cans Event.

Man Wanted on Warrant Ends Up with More Charges

Date: November 26, 2019

On Monday, November 25, 2019, at approximately 12:25 PM, officers responded to the 100 block of Stuart Street regarding a male that appeared to be carrying a rifle.

Officers located the male who identified himself with a fictitious name. As the officers continued their investigation they were able to determine that the rifle was actually an air rifle (pellet gun).

They were also able to determine who the male was and that he was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for failing to attend court.

As police attempted to arrest the suspect he broke away from the officers but after a brief foot chase was taken into custody.

The accused in this matter is a Judson Leslie Brown, 31 years of age, of Sarnia. Aside from the arrest warrant, the accused now faces charges for resist peace officer, public mischief, and failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking.

Brown was held for a bail hearing.

Fight Lead to Stabbing – Update

In the early morning hours of Sunday November 24, 2019, two males attended a house in the 200 block of South Mitton Street. Shortly after attending the address, fights broke out between the two males and the occupants of the house. The fights spread from the front yard of the house to across the road.

The two males left the area after the fight in a dark coloured SUV, which was later located by police.

During the fight, a male victim, an occupant of the house, had been stabbed. The victim is currently recovering in a London hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

An arrest warrant was issued for Nicholas Edward Bailey, 22 years of Sarnia for Assault with a Weapon and Aggravated Assault. On November 26, 2019, Bailey surrendered himself to the Sarnia Police.

The continued investigation into the incident led police to identifying and arresting the second involved male. On November 26, 2019, Kevin Blair Plain, 53 years, of Sarnia was also arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and aggravated assault.

Male Arrested for Two Robberies

A 38 year old male from Sarnia has been arrested and charged with two counts of Robbery.

On November 29th, 2019, at approximately 4:30am, the accused in this matter attended a coffee shop in the 1200 block of London Road. He then approached the counter and demanded the employee give him all the money in the register. The accused became upset when the employee refused his demand and motioned as if he had a knife in his pocket. The male took a closed fist swing at the employee, but missed as the employee backed up. He then pushed the register and other items on the counter towards the employee in an aggressive manner before leaving westbound on London Road.

At approximately 5am, this same male entered the Petro Canada station on Indian Road North. At this time he went behind the counter and assaulted the employee, demanding him to empty the register. The employee gave him the money while the male continued to assault him. The accused eventually left the gas station on foot in a southbound direction.

At approximately 5:30am, the accused was located and arrested while walking in the area of Capel Street and Admiral Avenue.

Matthew Floyd Bird was charged with Robbery with Intent and Robbery with Violence. He was held for a Bail Hearing this morning.

Disturbance Leads to Weapons Incident

A 34 year old male from Sarnia is facing numerous weapons charges after an early morning disturbance.

On November 29th, 2019 at approximately 12:45am, the accused in this matter was at an address in 100 block of Capel Street when he became involved in a verbal altercation with the 23 year old female victim in this case. Another female became involved in this argument and when the victim walked towards her, she was pepper sprayed in the face by the accused. The victim ran to the basement and the accused moved behind the couch where he set down a guitar case that he carried into the residence. The accused removed a sawed off 12 gauge shotgun from the case and began loading rounds into the shotgun.

The victim then re-attended the main floor with two baseball bats making her way towards the other female she had the dispute with. As other guests intervened, the accused at this time pepper sprayed the victim once more in the face causing her to fall to the ground. He then put the shot gun back in the case and placed it in the trunk of a vehicle that was parked in the driveway. The accused made his way towards another vehicle that was parked on the roadway where he threw the can of pepper spray in the back seat and then sat in this vehicle.

Police were dispatched to this disturbance call although the accused fled the area before officers began conducting their investigation. Police seized the firearm and pepper spray in this case.

As a result, a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Brennan Lee Erdodi for the offences of:

  • Possess Weapon (bear spray) for Dangerous Purpose
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Careless Storage of Firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Possess Prohibited Firearm: with Ammunition
  • Firearm: Tampering with Serial Number
  • Possess Firearm contrary to Prohibition Order
  • Possess Prohibited Weapon Contrary to Prohibition Order

Public’s Assistance

On November 29, 2019, at approximately 5:00pm, the Sarnia Police responded to the 100 block of Cobden Street in regards to an incident involving a white van and a cyclist. Upon arrival the van, the driver of the van and the cyclist could not be located. Police are requesting the Public’s assistance in obtaining more information about the incident as well as the whereabouts of the van and the cyclist. Police are interested in speaking to any further witnesses who were in the area at the time of the incident. Also, Police are inviting anyone who lives in the area of Cameron Street, Cobden Street and Forsythe Street, that has video surveillance, to contact Detective Brian Halfpenny #213 at 519-344-8861 extension 6213.

Sarnia Police Kept Busy With Impaired Drivers

Unfortunately, it appears the season of impaired driving is upon us.

Between Friday evening, and into the early hours of Saturday morning, in just over a six hour span, Sarnia Police arrested four drivers for impaired driving related offences.

On Friday evening, at 8:22pm, police responded to a motor vehicle collision, in which a truck, operated by a 42 year old male, had left the roadway and travelled on to the front yard of a home, taking out a fence in the process. The driver was arrested and charged with Impaired Driving related offences.

Also, On Friday evening, at 10:22pm, Sarnia Police responded to citizen’s complaints of a female driving erratically in Canatara Park. A 33 year old female was stopped on Christina Street and was arrested and charged with impaired driving relating offences.

Again, on Saturday morning, at 1:21am, Sarnia Police responded to a male passed out in his vehicle, on the roadway, on Michigan Avenue. A 32 year old male was arrested and charged with Impaired Driving related offences.

And finally, on Saturday morning, at 3:34am, police responded to a disturbance in the 200 block of Capel Street. A 27 year old male was located and refused to submit to breath demands and was arrested accordingly for impaired driving related offences.

Sarnia Police advise residents that there is no excuse for driving after consuming alcohol and/or drugs and getting behind the wheel of their vehicle. Make alternate arrangements for rides home. The penalties for impaired driving are severe and include driver’s license suspensions, vehicle impoundments and fines.
