Light up the Night for Noelle – Canatara Park Closure

The 7th annual “Light up the Night for Noelle” run/walk will take place this Saturday, October 5th, 2019, starting at 7pm at Canatara Park.

The Sarnia Police Service would like to advise drivers that vehicle traffic at Canatara Park will be shut down to the public for a brief period of time beginning at 7pm. This is to ensure the safety of the participants who will start the event at the path adjacent to the Bandshell and then head southeast along Lake Chipican Drive, rounding west towards the Animal Farm. The main entrance at Christina Street and side entrance at Charlesworth Drive will re-open to vehicle traffic after all runners/walkers have cleared this section of the road. Residents and visitors are asked to be patient during this time. The closure at these two entrances is expected to last approximately 20 minutes.

The Sandy Lane entrance to Canatara Park will be closed to the public for the duration of the event as runners will be re-entering the park at this location at random times. Participants arriving late are being asked to use Sandy Lane for entry to the event and participants who finish early are reminded to exit towards Christina Street.

Missing 14 Year Old Female – Emily Ryan

Aggravated Assault

On Saturday October 5, 2019, shortly after 4 PM, the Sarnia Police Service and Lambton EMS responded to the 1100 Block of Parkland Place, Sarnia, regarding a male in need of medical assistance. Shortly after arriving on scene, police entered into a criminal investigation.

The victim, a male, 37 years of age, from Sarnia, was transported to Bluewater Health for treatment of serious injuries. He remains in hospital in stable condition.

A Sarnia man, 48 years of age, was arrested at the scene. The male has now been charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon. The arrested male will appear in court on October 7th for a bail hearing.

Emergency Response Team Training

Update to Aggravated Assault

Car vs. Pedestrian – Police Looking for Info

Sarnia Police would like to speak with the driver, pedestrian and any other witnesses involved in a collision that reportedly took place yesterday on Michigan Avenue at the Howard Watson Trail crosswalk.

On October 8th, 2019 at approximately 6:45pm, a witness reported a collision after-the-fact between a red Ford Escape travelling west on Michigan Avenue and a male pedestrian crossing northbound at the Howard Watson Trail. The driver remained at the scene and spoke with the pedestrian, although police were not notified at the time of the incident. Police would like to speak with those who were involved including any witnesses. The driver of the Escape was described as a male in his 50’s.

Firearms Seized

On Tuesday October 8, 2019, at around 7:45 PM, officers of the Sarnia Police Vice Unit assisted by the Uniform Patrol Branch, stopped a vehicle on Highway 402 at Waterworks Road. The vehicle was operated by Brandon Little, 36 years, of Sarnia. Little was wanted by the Sarnia Police Service.

While arresting Little, Police observed a suspected firearm in plain view in the vehicle. On conducting a further search of the vehicle, police located five long guns. Also located in the vehicle was a machete, 8.21 grams of “magic’ mushrooms with a street value of $80 and trace amounts of powdered fentanyl with a street value of $100.

The long guns, consisting of shotguns and rifles, are believed to be recently stolen during a break and enter.

Little has been charged with five counts of Possessing a Firearm contrary to a Prohibition Order, five counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, five counts of Possessing a Firearm while in a Motor Vehicle, two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Drive while under Suspension, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. Little remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

Road Closures Due to Wide Load Vessel Escort

Date: October 10, 2019

Starting at 6:30 PM on October 13, 2019, a wide load vessel escort is being transported from Chester Street (running off of Confederation Line west of Modeland Road) to the Imperial Sarnia Refinery site located on South Vidal Street. The expected time of arrival is on October 14, 2019, at 8:30 AM (travel time is approximately 14 hours).

This large vessel will be travelling at approximately 4 km/hr. This wide load will be escorted by an escort crew, police, and hydro employees.

Road ways will be shut down once the vessel is travelling due to its sheer size. We are asking the public to avoid the roads that are marked below on the map.

Please avoid the area during the above mentioned times for the safety of all involved.

Route:

  1. Northbound on Chester Street to Confederation Line.
  2. Eastbound on Confederation Line to Blackwell Side Road
  3. Southbound on Blackwell Side Road to Churchill Line
  4. Westbound on Churchill Line to Plank Road and back onto Churchill Line continuing westbound to Scott Road
  5. Northbound on Scott Road to Imperial Avenue.
  6. Westbound on Imperial Avenue to the Imperial Refinery on South Vidal Street

Update to Firearms Seized on October 8, 2019

Date: October 11, 2019

On Tuesday October 8, 2019, at approximately 7:45 PM, members of the Sarnia Police Vice Unit, with assistance by Uniform Patrol Officers, stopped a vehicle on Highway 402 at Waterworks Road.

The driver of the vehicle was wanted on a warrant by the Sarnia Police Service. The driver is a Brandon Ross Little, 36 years of age, of Sarnia.

During the arrest a firearm was observed in the vehicle and a further search located more firearms and drugs.

The firearms were shotguns and rifles, and were believed to have been stolen.

Officers have continued their investigation and have been able to determine that the guns were stolen from a residence in Lambton County.

Due to this, Little faces further charges related to the firearms.

We would like to thank the public for their assistance in this investigation.

Government Agencies such as RCMP and Federal Tax Agencies will never ask for your Banking Information.

Regardless how legitimate the caller comes across, do not give out your information. Call us if you are uncertain before giving any information. They use such tactics as claiming there are warrants for your arrest and other threats to trick you into providing personal information.

24 HOUR DELAY in Road Closures Due to Wide Load Vessel Escort

The Sarnia Police Service would like to advise the public that the scheduled vessel transport from Chester Street to the Imperial Refinery located on Vidal Street South has been delayed by 24 hours.

It will now start on October 14, 2019, at 6:30 PM and arrive on site on October 15, 2019, at 8:30 AM (travel time is still estimated to be 14 hours).

Road ways will be shut down once the vessel is travelling due to its sheer size. We are asking the public to avoid the roads that are marked below on the map.

Missing 44 Year Old Male

Michael James Lotz, 44 years of age, was last seen just after midnight this morning at his residence. He is believed to be wearing dark blue sweat pants, a light blue hoodie, a black baggy jacket with white stitching, and black Nike shoes. A recent photo is attached below.

Attempting to Identify black Toyota Rav 4

On the October 15, 2019, shortly after midnight, a black SUV with a Quebec license plate failed to stop for an officer.

 

The vehicle is believed to be a late model black Toyota Rav 4 with no front plate. It was being operated by a male driver who was accompanied by a female passenger.

 

The vehicle was initially seen in the 200 block of Wellington Street earlier in the evening.

The Sarnia Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a 14-year-old female.  Emma McCormick was last seen at 5:00pm, on today’s date, near the 700 block of Indian Road at Exmouth Street.  Emma is described as a female, white, approximately 5’9, weighing 130lbs with wavy shoulder length dark brown hair and was last seen wearing a black in colour hooded zippered sweatshirt with a blue t-shirt underneath, blue jeans and black slip on shoes.

If anyone has any information as to her whereabouts could you, please contact the Sarnia Police Service.  Both the police and her family are concerned for her.
