Broadcast time: 1:53 p.m.

Date: July 24, 2015

Sarnia Police were dispatched to the 1600 block of Trinity Crescent just before 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2015 regarding a deer inside a home. The deer had crashed through the front window of the home and sustained severe injuries as a result. Animal control and police officers on scene deemed it necessary for humanitarian reasons to destroy the deer. The incident was reported by a passerby and there was no one at home at the time.

Police received a second call of a deer in distress around the noon hour. This deer had become wedged between a house and fence in the 100 block of South Vidal Street and it was discovered that the deer had severe injuries. Animal control and police officers deemed it in the animal’s best interest that it be destroyed.

It is not uncommon that officers are called upon to destroy sick or severely injured animals in the course of their duties, however it is extremely rare to have two such calls in one day.
