The Sarnia Police Service responded to a call advising that a man was slumped over the steering wheel of his vehicle at about 11:00 p.m. last night.
Officers attended a parking lot in the 300 block of Kathleen Avenue and located the car with the 38 year old man still slumped over the wheel. The man was unresponsive and the doors were locked. Concerned for the man’s wellbeing, the officers smashed out a window to gain access and called Lambton EMS. The officers formed the opinion that the man had been consuming alcohol. The man was transported to Bluewater Health and later released at which time he was arrested for care and control while impaired. He was taken to Sarnia Police Headquarters where he provided breath samples. The test indicated the man was one and one half times the legal limit to drive.
He will be held for a bail hearing and faces charges of care and control while impaired, being over the legal limit and four counts of violating conditions on three separate court releases.
