On March 11, 2013, an 18 year old Sarnia man was walking in the 900 block of Woodland Avenue in Sarnia. He approached a pick-up truck parked in a driveway. He began trying to smash the window with his skateboard. The home owners heard the noise and went outside to investigate.
They saw the male. He began to run with the 30 year old male truck owner in fresh pursuit. The man’s wife called police. The police arrived in short time and found the accused near Strathmore and Grandview Avenues. He smelled of alcohol and was only wearing one shoe. His back pack contained a bottle of alcohol and he was covered in mud and scratches. He had no explanation for his condition.
The male was found to be on a Recognizance of Bail as well as on Probation. Conditions of those releases indicated he was not to be in possession of alcohol and was on a curfew. He was arrested and taken to police headquarters to await a bail hearing.
Officers spoke to the truck owner who had given chase and he led them on the path where the chase occurred. A shoe, a black toque and a skateboard were found. There was also damage on the window of the truck. The shoe located on the chase path just happened to match the shoe the male was found wearing upon his arrest.
The man faces charges of Mischief Over $5,000, Prowl by Night, Breach of Recognizance x 2 and Breach of Probation. He was also issued a Provincial Offence Notice for liquor infractions. The shoe, toque and skateboard are being held as evidence.
