Sarnia Police Service detectives executed a search warrant in the 1400 block of Baxter Street on Wednesday, 21 January 2015.
Just Before 11:00 p.m. last night detectives assisted by uniform officers executed a search warrant at the Baxter Street address and recovered property taken during two separate break and enters in the city. Police recovered a stolen bicycle valued at almost $10.000.00 taken during a December 7, 2014 break in on Hillary Street. Also recovered was a pink safe stolen during a December 8, 2014 break in at a home on Maria Street.
Upon entering the home police arrested a 46 year old Sarnia man who was currently out on bail with a condition not do associate with a certain female who was also located in the home. Police also located a small amount of crystal methamphetamine. The man has been charged with failing to abide by conditions of his bail, two counts of possession of stolen property under $5000, possession of stolen property over $5000 and possession of a controlled substance. The accused will be held for a bail hearing.
Police would also like to recover other items taken during the Maria Street break in including a TV, laptop computer, a gold pocket watch, silver coins, silver bars, an 1871 Dutch coin displayed on a chain and personal documents. Also taken were war medals and diaries belonging to a deceased family member as well as souvenirs the family member had collected during his time serving overseas.
