On December 27, 2014 at about 3:00 a.m. Sarnia Police arrested a 23 year old Michigan man for refusing to provide a breath sample.
A Sarnia Police Service Patrol Sergeant drove into the parking lot of a drinking establishment on Murphy Road and noticed a man he had dealt with about one hour earlier behind the wheel of a car. The man had been told one hour earlier that he needed to take a taxi home because of his alcohol consumption. The man was read a demand to provide a sample into a roadside device. The man refused the request several times and was arrested for his refusal. Because he is a Michigan resident he was initially held for a bail hearing and released later the same day. His Michigan drivers license was also suspended.
Roland William SMITH of Ypsilanti Michigan has been charged with refusing to provide a breath sample.
