On March 2, 2013 around 1:15 AM, an officer on patrol on Murphy Road near Exmouth Street observed a car travelling northbound. The car was swerving back and forth in the curb lane, almost striking the curb. The car was stopped.
The officer approached the driver, asking for his licence. An odour of alcohol was detected. He was asked to step from the vehicle and arrested. Later, the breath tests revealed he was twice the legal limit. The 37 year old Sarnia man was charged with Impaired Operation and Drive with Over 80 mg. He was released on a Promise to Appear to go to court on April 9, 2013.
On March 3, 2013, around 3:15 AM, an officer noticed a car in the area of Confederation and Kirby Streets. The suspicious vehicle’s speed was high before making a jerky turn onto Confederation Street. The car slowed then accelerated again. The car was stopped by the officer.
A strong odour of alcohol was coming from within the vehicle. There were a total of 6 occupants in the small car. A roadside screening device was provided to the scene. The driver blew a “Caution”. The 16 year old driver was found to be the holder of a G1 licence. He was issued a 3 day suspension as well as being issued a total of six Provincial Offence Notices under the Highway Traffic Act, most involving being the holder of a Class G1 Licence and violating conditions of that licence. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
