On the 17th of July 2014, an unknown male entered an electronics store in the 1300 block of Exmouth Street. The male was described as 6’2″ to 6’3″ weighing approximately anywhere from 215 lbs to 230 lbs wearing a ball cap and sunglasses to conceal his identity. The male began selecting several items associated to gaming totaling an approximate value of $2900. He then exited the retail store through the installation bay when an employee caught sight of him. The employee gave chase to the male who began unloading the electronics into an un-plated late model Chevy Camaro. The store employee intervened resulting in a physical altercation. Other employees noticed the scuffle and came to their co-workers aide. The male then fled the scene. The employees were able to retrieve all of the stolen property. During the altercation, the suspect lost his ball cap and sunglasses.

Investigators from the Criminal Investigations division attended the scene and seized the items left behind by the suspect and had them sent to the Center of Forensic Sciences. As a result, a DNA match was discovered and the male was identified as a male party in his early thirties from Wallcaeburg ON. A search warrant was executed on the 5th of September 2014 at the suspect’s residence. The male turned himself in during the early morning hours of September 8th, 2014 and arrested for Robbery, Assault, Dangerous Drive and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
