On July 31, 2014 at about 12:10AM a Sarnia Police officer observed a male driving a stolen pickup truck in the 1300 block of Colborne Road. The man accelerated out of a parking lot and crossed all lanes of traffic causing the officer who was south bound in a cruiser to brake to avoid a collision. The man pulled into another parking lot and the officer pulled in behind with the emergency lights on. The male then drove over a curb to flee. The officer pursued the male east on Cathcart Boulevard but discontinued the pursuit a short time later for public safety concerns. The officer was able to identify the 21 year old Sarnia man. The truck was abandoned a short distance away on Pineridge Trail.
On Wednesday August 6, 2014 at about 9:40AM the man was observed by an officer riding a bicycle along Cristina Street and arrested him without incident.
The man is in custody pending a bail Hearing and is charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Dangerous Driving, Flight While Pursued by a Police Officer and two counts of Breach of Probation.
