On Tuesday July29,2014 Sarnia Police arrested a 32 year old Kitchener man for Obstructing a Police Officer at a collision scene.
Police were investigating a collision on Exmouth Street at Pontiac Drive and it was necessary to block off eastbound Exmouth Street traffic. At about 4:40PM the accused approached the area in his vehicle at a high rate of speed and the officer directing traffic signaled the driver to stop. The driver then shouted for the officer to get out of the way that he had to get through. The officer explained the reason for the road closure, however, the man insisted that his GPS was indicating he had to continue eastbound and told the officer impolitely to move. Because the driver had attempted to go around the officer he was now blocking westbound traffic causing more traffic issues. The driver was advised to back up and move. Again the driver stated he was following his GPS and again impolitely told the officer to move. The male was then arrested for obstructing. He was released with a court date.
Motorists are reminded that for safety resons they must obey a police officer while the officer is controlling traffic.
