Sarnia Police Service answered 165 calls for service during the last weekend of June2014. The calls include :
6 – 911 hang Up Calls
11 – Alarm Calls
4 – Disturb the Peace
13 – Domestic/Family Disputes
3 – Motor Vehicle Collisions
8 – Noise Complaints
On Saturday June 28, 2014 at about 9:45 PM a citizen called Sarnia Police reporting a suspected drunk driver. The vehicle was being driven by a male in the area of Brigden Road and Lakeshore Road. The driver was swerving in the lane and appeared to be arguing with a male passenger. Patrol officers stopped the car in the area of Colborne Road and Kemsley Drive. After a conversation with the driver the officer requested that the driver provide a roadside sample. The driver registered a fail and was taken to the Police Station to provide another sample. The male driver blew over the legal limit. A Robert John Kennedy age44 year of Sarnia has been charged with Drive With Over 80MG.
On Sunday June 29, 2014 at about 4:20 AM officers responded to an assault in the south end of the city. When officers arrived they met the victim at the end of the driveway of a residence. While speaking with the victim officers saw the accused in the home pacing back and forth through an open door. Officers heard what they described as a commotion and after getting the victim to a safe place they approached the home. As the officers approached the home the male accused confronted them with an axe. He refused to drop the axe when requested and was pepper sprayed. The accused eventually dropped the axe and was taken into custody. The 32 year old Sarnia man has been charged with two counts of Assault, Assault with a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public.
