Recently there have been public complaints about supped up pick-up trucks racing, squealing tires and driving over embankments at Canatara Park.
On April 20, 2014, police conducted surveillance in the park. Two pick-up trucks were observed entering the park. The trucks were heard revving engines and observed to be travelling around the parking lot at high rate of speed and fish tailing around corners.
As a result of police enforcement, two drivers, 21 and 22 year old males, were charged with stunt driving. This resulted in their driver’s license’s being suspended for seven days and their vehicles impounded for seven days.
