The Ontario Provincial Police has made a public appeal and unveiled a case chronology video in the hope of reinvigorating the investigation into the death of Karen Caughlin.

The 14 year old Sarnia resident was found on the morning of Saturday March 16th, 1974, near the side of the then 6th Side Road of Freer Rd, now known as Plowing Match Road, between Churchill Line and Lasalle Line in Lambton County.

At a news conference, members of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch pointed out they are specifically looking at a 9 hour gap in the time when Karen was last seen – in the early morning (approx. 12:50am) of Saturday March 16th 1974 in Sarnia – and when her body was discovered at around 9:50am 22 kilometers away.

Police also want to speak to or hear about anyone who may have seen or been with Caughlin on Friday March 15th at locations in her community or at Sarnia Collegiate Institute and Technical School (SCITS).

The 7 minute, OPP produced video is available for view on our Sarnia Police Youtube Channel and can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVI_fvIum1w

Anyone with information may call Detective Constable Rob Carruthers at Lambton County OPP at 519-882-1011, or if the caller prefers to remain anonymous, they can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS)
