A Sarnia Police officer on patrol Friday night just before 11 PM noticed a motor vehicle right in front of his cruiser. The motor vehicle was swerving in its lane, crossing the dividing line as it travelled northbound on Murphy Road nearing the intersection of London Road. The suspect vehicle slowed to stop at the traffic light at the intersection. The vehicle was straddling the lane dividing line.
The motor vehicle was stopped near Isabella Street. The officer approached the driver and was immediately met with the pungent odor of freshly burning marihuana. The 30 year old male driver identified himself to the officer. Information was then received that the Sarnia man was on a recognizance of bail with a condition that he not possess or ingest non-prescribed drugs. He was arrested.
During a search of his person, two Ziploc baggies containing marihuana were discovered. The total weight was over 62 grams. The vehicle was towed from the location. The man was held for a bail hearing.
