A 55 year old Wyoming man was arrested yesterday morning just before 9:00 AM after his car ended up in the ditch near Confederation Line and Telfer Side Road. The man apparently nodded off while he was driving westbound on Confederation. The car, a Pontiac, veered on to the north shoulder of the road. The man overcorrected to avoid striking a sign and entered the south ditch, flipping the car. It was demolished but luckily he was not injured. He remained temporarily trapped inside until he freed himself. Sarnia Fire Rescue Service also attended the scene.
Upon checking the man’s driver’s licence, it was learned he was suspended. This is an arrestable offence. He admitted to the officer he was aware he was a suspended driver and had been so since the early 1990′s. He was issued a Part III summons for Driving While Under Suspension and has a court date of February 14, 2014. The car was removed and towed from the scene.
