On February 22, 2023, the accused in this case was alleged to be travelling at a high rate of speed while southbound on Cardiff Drive south of Wellington Road. As the vehicle approached a bend in the road, it failed to negotiate the turn and headed off the road striking a fire hydrant, travelling across several front yards, and striking a parked car. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident.
Once officers attended the scene and investigated the matter further the driver was arrested for operating a vehicle while impaired by drug. The accused was transported to the Sarnia Police Headquarters and evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert.
The accused in this matter, Cameron Joseph KEMMIS, 29 years of age, of Sarnia, now faces one count of impaired operation by drugs.
KEMMIS’ Licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle driven was impounded for seven days.
