On March 21, 2022, the Sarnia Police Service was contacted by the owner of Sharky’s Athletic Club to report that the business was being defrauded by an employee.
It is alleged that various transactions were suspicious in nature and that ultimately business accounts were low in funds.
Members of the Criminal Investigation Branch began to investigate the matter and were able to determine that funds had been taken from the business by an employee. It is believed that new membership fees were being diverted to the accused instead of the business.
As a result, Jessica Lee Simourd, 30 years of age, of Sarnia, faces one count of fraud over $5000.
Simourd’s first court appearance will be on November 17, 2022, at 9:30 AM, at the Sarnia Lambton Court House, located at 700 North Christina Street.
