A 50-year-old male from Sarnia has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault after a stabbing incident.
It is alleged that shortly after 10pm on October 20, 2022, the accused in this case along with the 27-year-old male victim returned to their residence in the 200 block of Vidal Street North after drinking at a downtown bar. A 28-year-old mutual male friend accompanied them. At this time, an argument unfolded between the roommates, which escalated to a physical confrontation. During this altercation, the victim was stabbed in the abdomen after a knife was produced. He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and was later discharged. The mutual friend was also taken to hospital. He was treated for non-life threatening injuries received while trying to intervene and he has since been discharged.
The accused, Anthony John Hendley was also charged with Assaulting a Police Officer after striking the officer in the face during the arrest. He was held for a bail hearing and has since been remanded into custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for October 24, 2022.
The individuals in this case are known to each other and there is no risk to public safety.
