On September 11, 2022, at approximately 2:50 PM, Sarnia Police received a complaint regarding an individual who was believed to be an impaired driver in the area of Christina Street and Maxwell Street. Information received was that the suspect vehicle had almost struck a number of vehicles in a parking lot.
Officers were able to locate the vehicle shortly after in the area of Indian Road and Confederation Street. Prior to conducting a traffic stop the vehicle was observed swerving from its lane of travel.
Once the traffic stop was conducted the officer demanded a roadside test which was issued and the driver failed. Subsequently, the accused was transported to the station where breath samples were taken by a qualified breath technician. The accused in this matter had over twice the legal limit of alcohol in their blood.
As a result, Dario Grana, 60 years of age, of Sarnia faces one count of one count of impaired operation with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus.
Also on Sept 11, 2022, at approximately 10:20 PM, the accused in this matter was at a local restaurant drive through and staff contacted police as they believed he was impaired. Once an officer arrived on scene a road side screening device was administered and the results indicated a fail.
The accused was next transported to the station where samples of breath were taken by a qualified breath technician. Results from the testing indicated that the accused was over three times the legal limit.
Bryan Grennan, 39 years of age, of Sarnia , faces one count of impaired operation by alcohol and for having a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus.
Both accused have had their vehicles impounded for seven days and their drivers licences suspended for 90 days.
Impaired driving remains of great concern to the Sarnia Police Service. There has been a 10 % increase involving the number of calls related to impaired drivers compared to last year at this time.
