Suspect Identified and Arrested

The Sarnia Police Service reported that on January 16, 2022, an individual was observed on security cameras in the underground parking garage of an apartment complex in the City of Sarnia.

The suspect was observed carrying what appeared to be a splitting maul which was then used to damage several security cameras and then the suspect broke into a storage area and stole a bicycle.

Thanks to the security images, the suspect was identified as Curtis Edward McBean, 32 years of age, of no local fixed address.

On January 30, 2022, at approximately 8:00 AM, an officer on general patrol observed the suspect in the area of Afton Drive. The suspect ran from the officer but fortunately the officer was able to catch up and take McBean into custody without any further incident.

Curtis Edward McBean faces one count of break and enter, two counts of mischief under $5000, and one count of theft under $5000 in relation to the underground parking garage of an apartment complex.

McBean was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for break and enter, mischief under $5000, and breach of probation regarding another incident.

McBean’s first court appearance will be on March 8, 2022, at 9:30 AM at the Sarnia Lambton Court House located at 700 Christina Street North, Sarnia.
