Just before 4:30 PM yesterday, the Vice Branch, assisted by members of the Community Response Branch, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence in the 200 block of Maxwell Street. Inside, they found a 42 year old Sarnia woman and a 41 year old man. They were both arrested. A small quantity of methamphetamine was found. The female was later released on a Promise to Appear on a charge of Possession of Methamphetamine. The male was held for bail, charged with the Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking.
During the second search, marihuana was seized. In this particular incident, a uniformed patrol officer was initially responding to a break and enter call on Earlscourt Drive. The officer arrived to find an insecure door. He entered to check for suspects or any occupant. No one was found, however, the officer was met with an overwhelming smell of marihuana. Drug paraphernalia was observed in plain view. The Vice Branch was contacted and a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant was applied for and granted.
Officers entered the apartment just after midnight this morning. In total, about 117 grams of marihuana was seized with a street value of about $1175. A little over $400 in cash was also seized. The occupant of the apartment was not home, and his whereabouts are unknown at this time. A warrant to arrest will be issued for a 25 year old Sarnia man on a charge of Possession of Marihuana for the Purpose of Trafficking.
