Sarnia Police have charged a 24 year old Sarnia man with 120 criminal charges and more charges may be pending. The man is in custody and is scheduled to have a bail hearing tomorrow.

The man was arrested on November 18, 2013 around 9:45 PM at a home on South Russell Street. He was caught doing a break and enter to a home in the 400 block of that street. He was searched and found in possession of property from the home as well as three knives and a razor blade. He was also found in possession of crystal methamphetamine.

After an extensive investigation by members of the Criminal Investigations Branch, he was linked to two arsons in the city in November. One of those arsons was the home on South East Street on Sunday, November 10, 2013. The police and fire departments were also investigating arson to a home in the 300 block of South Palmerston Street on November 18, 2013. Both of these homes had been broken into prior to the arson. He faces charges of break and enter as it relates to those residences as well.

Property seized from a search at a residence the man had been living at on Confederation Street linked him to other break and enters as well as the robbery that occurred on November 16 to a home on Lansdowne Avenue where he was confronted by the home owners upon their return. The weapon used in that robbery was a BB gun and the male victim was struck in the chest with a BB fired from that firearm. The two wrestled in the home until the accused escaped but not before brandishing a knife and threatening the victim with it.

The investigation dates back to August 1st of this year and the accused can be linked to a total of 12 break and enters since that time. The investigation has revealed the man broke into other Sarnia homes in October and November, mostly in the south part of the city. Officers tagged numerous pieces of recovered property and it has been identified by the owners. The investigation is still ongoing. The man’s name cannot be released until after he is formally arraigned and the information sworn to in front of a Justice at tomorrow’s bail hearing.
