Today, the final Sunday of September, we lower our flag to half-mast in recognition of National Police and Peace Officers Memorial Day. This year, 4 more names will be added to the Honour Roll tablets in Ottawa, honouring the men and women who gave their lives in the line of duty. Amongst those names already enshrined on the wall is John (Jack) Lewis of Sarnia (1936).
This morning, we held a short ceremony in front of the station paying tribute to all of our fellow officers who made the ultimate sacrifice, during which PC Knight spoke kind words with reverence for the fallen.
