On September 15, 2021, at approximately 11:50 AM, officers from the Community Response Branch (General Patrol), conducted the traffic stop of a vehicle pertaining to an investigation. The stop was conducted on Christina Street in the area of the 402 overpass.
The occupants of the vehicle had stepped out from the car to speak to the officers regarding the investigation. As the passenger door to the car was left open an officer on scene observed what they believed to be the end of a gun’s barrel sticking out in between the seat and the passenger side car door. As the officer looked into the matter further the officer located a sawed off rifle wrapped with a bandana.
The two occupants of the vehicle were immediately taken into custody without incident. As the firearm was examined further its was determined that a .22 calibre round was loaded into the chamber.
Secondary to the arrest a search of the suspects located the following:
1) 12.2 grams of suspected methamphetamine
2) 7.6 grams of suspected fentanyl
3) 0.3 grams of suspected crack cocaine
4) several .22 calibre rounds of ammunition
As a result of this incident the following individuals were charged accordingly:
Caylie Rhianno White, 39 years of age, of Petrolia, faces the following charges:
- Use of a firearm while committing an offence
- Careless storage of a firearm
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon
- Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
- Possession of a firearm knowing the serial number has been tampered with
- Two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of a schedule one substance
Garrett Praill, 35 years of age, of Windsor, faces the following charges:
- Careless storage of a firearm
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon
- Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
- Possession of a firearm knowing the serial number has been tampered with
- Four counts of failing to comply with a probation order
- Two counts of possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
Both White and Praill remain in custody pending a bail hearing.
