On July 25, 2021, Sarnia Police responded to a complaint regarding an individual with a possible handgun at a local motel in the 1600 block of London Line.

Officers were able to locate the suspect and observed that the alleged firearm was in his waist band.

Fortunately, the officers were able to retrieve the gun without incident and were able to determine that it was actually a pellet gun.

The suspect was taken into custody and upon completing a search of the individual officers also located a knife that could easily be opened by flicking it with one finger and a small quantity of fentanyl.

The accused in this matter, Mario DiCarlo, 37 years of age, of Sarnia, has been charged with two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and one count of possession of a Controlled Substance (Schedule I).

Mr. DiCarlo’s first court appearance will be on September 7, 2021, at 9:30 AM, at the Sarnia Lambton Court House located at 700 Christina Street North, Sarnia Ontario.

Individuals carrying firearm replicas, as the one the one displayed below (the one seized in this matter), often causes public concern. Police and individuals in general have no idea if is the real deal or a pellet gun until it is actually inspected. Pointing these guns at can lead to very negative circumstances. Please, if you are transporting replica guns keep them out of sight and unloaded for everyone’s safety.
