On May 7, 2021, the Sarnia Police Service entered into an investigation regarding allegations involving fraudulent activity pertaining to the Imperial Football League.
Information was brought forward after an individual was made aware of their signature and name being used in regards to the club’s financial account.
The matter was investigated by the Sarnia Police Service Criminal Investigation Branch and as a result it was determined that various fraudulent activities did occur that dated back to 2014.
As a result, on June 24, 2021, Jake Dieter Cherski, 53 years of age, of Sarnia, was arrested and charged as follows:
1) Fraud over $5000.00
2) Personation with intent to gain advantage (Identity Fraud)
3) Make a forged document
4) Criminal breach of trust
Mr. Cherski’s first court appearance will be on August 17, 2021, at 9:30 AM, at the Sarnia Lambton Court House located at 700 North Christina Street, Sarnia, Ontario.
