As of late the Sarnia Police Service has received complaints regarding individuals that are setting off fireworks in residential areas.
Any fireworks set off in the City of Sarnia require a permit within the city limits.
One of the major reasons for this is to prevent damage to property surrounding the area where the fireworks are lit. There is also an issue regarding the unnecessary noise that is generated when they go off.
Individuals can face fines of $175 or can receive a court summons.
