Recently the Sarnia Police Service has investigated several incidents involving prescription frauds for narcotics.
The suspects contact the pharmacy as a doctor’s office and request a prescription be filled on behalf of their patient who is in town and requires the medication.
Unfortunately, the fraudster has gained credentials that pertain to the doctor and have placed the order. Subsequently, someone is sent to pick-up the drugs under a false name given.
It is believed that these suspects are all from out of town.
We are asking pharmacies to ensure that any orders that are from an out of town doctor and appear suspicious in nature be scrutinized. If you have any concerns or come across a script believed to be fraudulent please contact the police.
