Shortly before 11:30 PM, on February 10, 2021, a Sarnia Police Service Officer, performing general patrol duties, ran the license plate number of a motor vehicle in the area on Elgin Street. Information received indicated that the owner of the vehicle was a suspended driver.
The officer was able to turn his vehicle around and initiated a traffic stop of the suspect vehicle. The female driver was indeed the owner of the vehicle and also a suspended driver. She was subsequently taken into custody without incident for the offence of suspended driving.
A search of the immediate area around the driver’s seat located the following:
- 56 grams of crystal methamphetamine with a street value of $5600.00
- Seven 18 mg hydromorphone tablets with a street value of $420.00
- Two 12 mg hydromorphone tablets with a street value of $60.00
The total street value of drugs seized was $6080.00
The accused in this matter, Candy Lynn Sweet, 48 years of age, of Sarnia, faces one count of Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose trafficking (methamphetamine), one count Possession of a Schedule I Substance (opioid), and one count of driving while under suspension.
