A 25 year old male was arrested yesterday morning by Sarnia Police following an armed robbery.

On December 17th, 2020 shortly after 10am, the victim in this matter, a 45 year old male from Corunna, was visiting an acquaintance in the 200 block of South Mitton Street. The accused, whom the victim was not familiar with, was also at this residence and directed both the victim and his friend into a bedroom. After an exchange of cash between the victim and the friend over an item purchased, the accused pointed a handgun at the victim and instructed him to hand over the rest of his money. The victim believed the gun was real, but refused to comply with his demand.

Eventually, the victim was able to exit the residence safely, drive to a nearby business and call 911 for help. As police responded and began to contain the area, the accused attempted to flee on foot, although he was closely pursued by officers and was arrested a short distance away without incident. Police located two imitation handguns along the same route that the accused had taken when he left the residence prior to being arrested.

Dario Thomas Angelo of Windsor, Ontario faces the following charges:

  • Possession of a Firearm While Prohibited X3
  • Breach of Probation X2
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order
  • Possess Weapon Dangerous to Public
  • Use Imitation Firearm While Committing Robbery
  • Robbery with an Offensive Weapon

Dario Thomas Angelo was held for a bail hearing and has since been remanded into custody. Below are images of the weapons located and seized by police.
