Violent Encounter

On Sunday, November 8, 2020, at approximately 3:00 PM, the accused in this matter, entered a local coffee shop in the 1600 block of London Line and began to cause a disturbance with several patrons that were present. The accused struck one of the patrons with some sort of object causing minor injuries.

The accused then proceeded to a motel in the area and confronted another person and then attempted to enter various rooms unsuccessfully. When police arrived on scene at the motel they located the suspect in an agitated state.

The officer observed the accused with a knife in hand that was being used to stab the tires of vehicles parked in the motel lot.

The accused began to approach the officers on scene with the knife still in hand. Out of concern for safety one of the officers was able to deploy their taser and after a brief struggle the accused was handcuffed and taken into custody.

The accused, Kelly Roberta Mclean, 35 years of age, of no fixed address, faces the following charges:

  1. Assault of a peace officer with a weapon
  2. Two counts of assault with a weapon
  3. Failing to comply with a release order
  4. Two counts of mischief under $5000
  5. Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  6. Unauthorized possession of a weapon.

The accused remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
