On June 26, 2020, at approximately 11:54 AM, Sarnia Police responded to an address in the 1900 block of Franklin Avenue, located in Brights Grove regarding a shooting.
Officers arrived on scene to find that a 49-year-old male had been shot. The victim was transported to a London hospital and has since recovered from his injuries.
The Sarnia Police Service Investigation Branch continued their investigation into this crime and have determined the suspect to be a Terrance Christopher Shipway, 34 years of age, of the town of Ailsa Craig, Ontario. A warrant for the arrest of Shipway was granted for the following charges:
- One count of attempted murder
- One count of robbery using a firearm
- One count of carrying a concealed weapon
- Two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order
- One count of unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- One count of intimidation of a person of the general public
- One count of having knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
- One count of possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
Officers from the Sarnia Police Service, in collaboration with the Ontario Provincial Police, arrested Shipway on November 2, 2020, at approximately 3:45 PM, without incident. He was taken into custody in an area located to the north of the Town of Ailsa Craig.
Shipway has since been transported back to Sarnia to face his charges and await a bail hearing.
