A 31 year old male from Sarnia has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Conveyance by Drug.
On October 10th, 2020 at approximately 4:30pm, Sarnia Police were called to attend a bank in the 1200 block of London Road after a vehicle was observed driving quickly into the bank parking lot causing the tires to squeal as it turned and then came to an abrupt stop alongside the bank in a no parking area. The driver exited the vehicle and began acting erratically, throwing his arms in the air and yelling obscenities at the bank.
When officers attended and spoke with the driver, he showed no evidence of alcohol consumption although he did show obvious signs of drug impairment. He was arrested accordingly and transported to the Sarnia Police Service to be examined by a Drug Recognition Expert where he later refused to complete the drug evaluation.
As a result, Joseph Marcelino Ayala was also charged with Refusing to Comply with a Demand for a Drug Evaluation. His driver’s licence is immediately suspended for 90 days and his vehicle has been impounded for 7 days.
