Liquor Fueled Weekend

It was a weekend full of arrests for Sarnia Police and the main aggravating factor in these arrests was alcohol. The majority of the arrests were made Saturday, September 7.

Just after midnight on the 7th, police were called to the 200 block of Wellington Street to find a man passed out on the grass. He was only wearing one sandal. One of his toes was bleeding. Police had difficulty waking the 45 year old Sarnia man. Efforts were made to take him to his brother’s home which was nearby, but there was no answer at the door. The man was unable to care for himself so he was arrested and taken to police headquarters and lodged till sober. He was issued a Provincial Offence Notice for Being Intoxicated in a Public Place.

Just before 1 AM, police spotted a 51 year old intoxicated man in the back parking lot of a business in the 700 block of Exmouth Street. He was urinating in the lot. Police approach to speak to him and learn his name. He was found to be on an Undertaking with conditions of no alcohol. He was arrested and taken to police headquarters. He will face a charge of Breach of Undertaking was held overnight to appear before a Justice of the Peace the following morning.

Around 1:15 AM, police responded to the area of Front and George Street regarding a disturbance. Police arrived to find a 41 year old Sarnia man being detained by another man. The man being detained was yelling and being belligerent. He had been previously causing a disturbance in an establishment and was asked to leave but had refused. He was showing signs of alcohol impairment. He was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. He was taken to police headquarters to be lodged till sober. He was issued a Provincial Offence Notice.

On the same date, police were sent to the area of Christina and Cromwell Streets in the downtown core around 2:35 AM regarding another disturbance. One man was taken into custody after he refused to leave the area. He continued to yell and swear at people. Just after 3 AM, the 30 year old man was taken to police headquarters. He continued to be unco-operative with the officers, attempting to spit on them. The man is facing charges of Assault Police and Resist Arrest.

At 2:40 AM, police attended an address in the 600 block of North Indian Road regarding a verbal domestic dispute. Police arrived and found a 29 year old intoxicated Oil Springs man who had been previously arguing with his girlfriend. He was arrested. He was lodged till sober and issued a Provincial Offence Notice.

Later that same night, around 11:30 PM, a 58 year old Sarnia man was arrested on Olympus Court after threatening his girlfriend. The pair had been arguing earlier over the telephone. The man was found in the area of Exmouth Street and Murphy Roads. He was held for bail.

On September 8, just before 12:30 AM, police went to a Bright’s Grove address in regards to a domestic situation. Information received is that a 46 year man, who was intoxicated, had been arguing with his spouse but had left his home on his bike and had fallen and cut his head. The pair agreed to stop arguing and retire for the night. Less than an hour later, a second call was received by police and they had to re-attend the residence. The man had left the home for the second time but was located at the plaza at Lakeshore and Waterworks Road. He was still showing signs of intoxication so he was arrested. He was taken to headquarters to sober up. He was issued a Provincial Offence Notice.
