Sarnia Police were kept busy this past weekend with a trio of drunks. It began on Friday, January 18 just after 10 PM when police attended a noisy party complaint in the 800 block of Devine Street. Police had been called to this same address back in November for the same reason. On Friday, officers arrived and were met with loud music, yelling and screaming. They observed through a patio door about 10 partiers. Officers spoke to the 21 year old resident who was intoxicated and un-cooperative. The fresh burnt smell of marihuana also lingered in the air. The man said he knew the law so the officer awarded him for his knowledge with a Provincial Offence Notice under the city by law for Making Noise Likely to Disturb.
On January 19 around 3:40 AM, police attended the area of Queen and Devine Streets for a disturbance. Further information was gained that a truck was seen leaving the area. As officer approached they saw the truck in question and it was stopped near Queen and Wellington Streets. Four occupants of the truck were observed. The driver, a 26 year old Petrolia resident smelled of alcohol. He blew a “Fail” on the Roadside Screening Device and was subsequently taken to headquarters where he blew over the legal limit of 80 milligrams. He was charged with Driver with Over 80. He was later released for a court appearance in February.
Lastly, on January 20 around 6:30 AM police attended the corner of Christina and George Streets and located a 22 year old Forest man passed out in between the doors of a business. He was given a warmer bed at police headquarters. He later left with a Provincial Offence Notice for Being Intoxicated in a Public Place.
